CARE & NUTRITION
Helping Your Bengal Thrive
Bengals are active, intelligent, athletic cats with big personalities and high enrichment needs. The right nutrition, daily play, routine care, and a thoughtful transition plan can help your kitten settle in confidently and grow into a healthy, well-adjusted companion.
High-Quality Nutrition Is Important for Bengals
Because Bengals are energetic, muscular, and highly active cats, we believe nutrition should be treated as an important part of their overall care. A high-quality, meat-based diet with strong animal protein sources is ideal for supporting healthy growth, energy, coat condition, and overall wellness.
Better ingredients matter. We encourage families to choose foods with real animal protein, quality ingredients, and minimal unnecessary fillers.
Prioritize animal-based protein
Choose high-quality wet, fresh, freeze-dried, or balanced raw options when appropriate
Avoid relying only on low-quality dry food
Keep fresh water available at all times
Transition foods slowly to avoid stomach upset
Ask questions before making major diet changes
Raw or Fresh Feeding Can Be an Option
Some Bengal families choose to feed raw, freeze-dried raw, or fresh food diets. These options can be a great fit for some cats when they are properly balanced, safely handled, and introduced correctly. Raw feeding is not something families should guess at — it should be researched carefully and discussed with a veterinarian or qualified feline nutrition professional.
Important
Raw diets should be complete and balanced, handled safely, and appropriate for the kitten’s age and health. We are happy to share what our kittens are used to and help families with transition guidance.
Suggested options
High-quality wet food
Wet food with limited high-quality dry food
Freeze-dried raw
Balanced raw or fresh food, when done correctly
Transition plan based on what the kitten is already eating
Food Transition After Go-Home
When your kitten comes home, we recommend keeping their diet consistent at first. Moving homes is a big adjustment, and sudden food changes can cause digestive upset. Families should continue the food routine we provide during the transition period, then make changes slowly if needed.
Keep the kitten on familiar food at first
Make changes gradually over 7–14 days
Watch appetite, stool quality, and energy level
Keep water available
Contact us with transition questions
Contact your veterinarian if your kitten is not eating, vomiting, lethargic, or having ongoing diarrhea
